You’ve finally found the PERFECT classroom decor bundle to use to decorate your classroom…but you can’t hang posters with staples in your classroom.
⛔ If your janitor has explicitly said not to put staples in your walls…
Or
🧱 Your walls are made of cinderblock and staples physically cannot work…
Don’t worry!
Just because you can’t use staples doesn’t mean you can never use classroom decor or hang a poster on your walls.
Follow these simple three steps, and before you know it, your walls will be covered in decor, fully transforming your classroom.

Supplies You’ll Need
This project is incredibly simple and doesn’t require anything fancy, but I did want to make note of a few things you’ll need before starting this project.
- Painter’s tape. Since this is the part that is connected to the wall, I would recommend good stuff. You want it to come off the wall neatly and efficiently.
- Hot glue gun. Trust me, this is where the magic happens.
- Laminated classroom decor/posters. This process works best if things are laminated before you hang them on the wall.
Step #1: Place Painter’s Tape on the Wall
I know this sounds strange, but you’re going to put painter’s tape on the wall where you want the poster to hang.

This way, when you take down your posters, the tape won’t damage the walls or paint! 🙌

It doesn’t matter which direction you apply the tape, as long as the tape extends towards the edges of the posters, so the edges stay down.
The only trick here is making sure your tape is a little shorter than your poster so you won’t see it!
Step #2: Apply the Hot Glue
Fire up your hot glue gun.

Apply hot glue on top of the painter’s tape. I tend to do it right in the middle of the piece of tape, so any hot glue that spreads out is still on the tape.

Step #3: Place the Poster on Top
Quickly (you don’t want the hot glue to dry), place the laminated poster on top of the hot glue.

Press down and make sure your poster is straight as the hot glue dries.
That’s it! You just figured out how to hang posters without staples!

Taking Things Down
When it comes time to swap out your classroom decor or move to another room, the take-down process is a piece of cake.
All you need to do is find those pieces of painter’s tape, peel them off the wall & you’re done!

Say goodbye to your boring, plain walls while staying on your janitor’s good side!
