Pastel Classroom Decor Inspo from a 4th Grade Math Teacher

It’s hard to believe that the before-and-after pictures are from the same classroom. 🤯

In four days, we transformed a 4th-grade math classroom from a blank slate into a soft, welcoming space filled with pastel classroom decor, math supports, classroom management tools, and cozy touches.

The finished state of this classroom is one of the reasons why classroom transformations are my FAVORITE way to spend my summer!! 🎉

Whether you’re decorating your own classroom this summer or simply looking for inspiration, you’ll find plenty of ideas to borrow throughout this classroom tour.

This image shows a 4th grade math classroom decorated in pastel classroom decor complete with some cute tan chairs and a cozy little rug. The text at the bottom of the image reads, "Pastel Classroom Decor Inspiration From a 4th Grade Math Teacher".

Meet Bailey 👋

For this classroom makeover, Bailey, a 4th-grade math teacher, was the giveaway winner!

This image shows two young ladies standing in front of a whiteboard of a 4th grade math classroom.

Since she only teaches math, we intentionally chose math classroom decor for her space.

Bailey LOVED the Hello Pastel classroom theme, so that’s the decor bundle we went with for this transformation project. 🎉

(And, honestly, I LOVE decorating a room with pastel classroom decor, so I was ALL about it 🥰.)

Here’s a glimpse into her space before we began the 4-day transformation.

A 4th Grade Pastel Wonderland ✨

Once we were finally finished, Bailey’s 4th-grade math classroom looked like an entirely different space. 🤯

Her room is bursting with the soft, gentle colors that come through with this Hello Pastel classroom decor bundle

And more than that, she is ready to rock teaching math to her students this year!

We filled her space with decor that not only makes this classroom feel homey, welcoming, and exciting but also supports her students as they master fractions, shapes, multiplication, and more!

Math Decor Highlights 🔢

4th-grade math is FILLED with fractions, long division, bigger multiplication problems, and LOTS of technical vocab.

Which means your math classroom decor needs to not only look cute but also help students remember place value. 😅

Shapes & Place Value Posters

First of all, check out these cubes. Aren’t they adorable??? 🥰

They were the perfect fit to hold Bailey’s library books in this little cube organizer!

This image shows a wall in a pastel classroom decor space with a short 8 cube organizer filled with brightly colored fabric cubes. Above this organizer is a display of shape posters and a number line resource for students.

This section on Bailey’s wall needed SOMETHING as we were decorating, and so we turned it into a math resource wall.

Normally, I would throw these on a DIY bulletin board background, but because of the telephone jack in the middle of the wall, I couldn’t do that. 🫠

So, instead, we put the shape posters directly on the wall & built around the telephone jack.

Aligned along the top of her shape posters is a place value chart helping students work on the different parts of large numbers. 👏

Fractions

Teaching fractions is hard work.

Providing ways to help your students see, visualize, and understand what’s going on makes it MUCH easier. 😉

We included two different styles of fraction supports in Bailey’s classroom to give students LOTS of exposure to fractions. 🤩

The posters underneath the whiteboard make it really easy for students to reference them and remember if ⅛ is larger or smaller than ¼ by looking at a visual.

Telling Time

Learning how to read an analog clock is a fantastic skill to teach students.

This image shows a clock with labels for each of the large numbers on the clock.

Adding these simple clock labels around your clock helps students understand how time works. 🙌

And gives them an easy counting by 5 practice!

Other Helpful Math Decor

We surrounded Bailey’s front whiteboard with things her students will use daily.

This image shows a close-up of the front of the classroom whiteboard with alphabet posters running along the top of the board. Along the bottom of the board are place value posters and skip counting numbers.

Alphabet posters because we’re still writing, even in math class 😉.

A flip calendar so students know exactly what day it is and how to write out the date.

More place value charts because you can never have too many.

Skip counting numbers can be a resource when students are multiplying.

ALL of these math resources are included in the Hello Pastel classroom decor bundle

I know, a calendar doesn’t “feel” like math classroom decor, but talking about dates, the number of days until or between certain events provides GREAT conversation about numbers and time.

You’ll have your students talking about “math” without even realizing it! 👍

The big bulletin board letters for the Calendar display are only included in the expansion pack for the Hello Pastel bundle

Classroom Management Decor Pieces 🌟

As I was decorating Bailey’s 4th-grade math classroom, I also wanted to make sure I included things that would make the teaching part easier.

We picked these parts of the pastel classroom decor bundle to help each day flow smoothly.

CHAMPS Display

This was a piece that isn’t actually included in my Hello Pastel classroom decor bundle.

But it’s a core strategy Bailey uses in her classroom, so we needed to make it a part of her room.

This image shows a side of a classroom with a whiteboard complete with a CHAMPS display for classroom management off to the side.

What I did to create this display was use the editable bulletin board letters included in the Hello Pastel decor bundle to make those BIG letters.

Then, I used the editable posters to create the description for each one! 🥳

Now Bailey has a resource to remind her students (and her) what each part of CHAMPS is, and can set her students up for success each day.

Hand Signal Posters

Bailey doesn’t have to worry about interruptions during whole-class lessons! 😊

This image shows a close-up of the hand signal posters on the whiteboard in this classroom.

These hand signal posters let students ask to grab a tissue, get a drink, or go to the bathroom without saying a word!! 🤯

Visual Schedule Cards

Students will know EXACTLY what’s happening each day with these pastel schedule cards.

This image shows a close-up of the visual schedule cards this 4th grade math teacher has added to a whiteboard in her classroom.

Since Bailey is in upper elementary, she chose the style that doesn’t include a clipart image for each subject.

And, we were able to use the editable cards to create cards that match her schedule EXACTLY! 🙌

Supplies You Will Need Display

There are supplies Bailey’s students will need each time they come over for a math lesson.

And instead of dealing with answering, “Wait…what do I need again?” fifty million times, Bailey can reference this resource!

These cute cut-outs let students know exactly what they will need for their math lesson each day!

The Supplies You Will Need display is included in the expansion pack for the Hello Pastel decor bundle

Inspirational Corners 💫

Learning math can often be a mental game for students.

So we FILLED Bailey’s classroom with places where students can be inspired, encouraged, and reminded that they CAN do hard things.

From inspirational posters on a bulletin board to an affirmation station mirror to a growth mindset bulletin board.

Each of these areas in this 4th-grade math classroom reminds students that they are important, and they CAN learn these hard math skills. 🥰

We also created a Wow Work display to show off what her students are doing!

This image shows a WOW work display where this 4th grade math teacher can easily hang up student work so the whole school can see the amazing work being done by her students.

This display actually ended up being outside her classroom, which I LOVE.

You get to showcase the amazing things your students are up to, and the rest of the school gets to walk past it every day. 🤩

All of these displays are included in my Hello Pastel decor bundle to easily encourage your students all year long!

Cute Finds that Add Pastel Flair 🤩

No good classroom makeover is complete without some FUN finds!!

And let me tell you, we found some great ones!

The Rug

We found the PERFECT rug for this space filled with pastel classroom decor. 🥰

This image shows a brightly colored, mostly pink background, rug in the front of a classroom. It's the perfect fit for the pastel classroom decor decorating this space.

I browsed through rugs.com until I was able to find a rug that matched the colors and vibe we were putting together for this math classroom.

Now Bailey and her students have a beautiful rug that ties the space together and makes the classroom feel more homey. ♥️

These CHAIRS 😍

I LOVE being able to find a fun seating option to include in a classroom.

(The pink couch for the 2025 classroom makeover is still something I dream about!)

And these gray chairs are PERFECT for this room.

This image shows a close-up of a small, circular table in a classroom with two gray chairs around it with throw pillows and a poster on the wall that reads "Kindness is Cool".

They don’t take up too much space, which is essential in small spaces, but they add a bit of character to the room and are INCREDIBLE for this little circle table Bailey already had.

It looks like the perfect space to curl up with a friend and work on fractions together during independent work time!

Fun Wall Quotes

Okay, this last one isn’t really a “find” because I just created it, but it does add some fun flair to this classroom!

The big wall quotes over these two displays (with the cute emojis) tie this room together wonderfully. 🥰

I love them so much, I went ahead and added them to the Hello Pastel classroom decor bundle!!

Your classroom is a place where you will spend countless hours during the school year.

And not just you, but your students also.

It’s often the place you spend the MOST time when school is in session.

Finding a classroom decor that brightens your space, supports your students, and transforms your room into a cozy place to be makes SUCH a difference.

This image gives an overview of the front of the classroom now that it is redecorated and transformed with the pastel classroom decor theme.

If you’re loving the vibes this pastel classroom decor is giving this math classroom, check out EVERYTHING I have in this design on my TPT store.

And if you just love binging classroom makeovers (I’m right there with you), I have two more for you!!
