The perfect way to help give students access to resources is to put them in their hands.
But giving students printouts for math facts 1-12 means lots of paper. And they will probably never be able to find what they actually need 🫠
Create handouts by printing multiple pages on one sheet. This makes it easy for your students to use.
Follow these steps to make the perfect student handouts!
I do want to mention that my computer uses Adobe to open PDF documents, and that may change the printing options. So, if yours doesn’t look exactly like this, try downloading the FREE PDF Viewer from Adobe from this website.
Step #1: Hit Print 🖨️
Get started by hitting the “Print” button on the document you want to turn into a handout.
Use the Ctrl + P or Command + P keyboard shortcuts!
This will open a print dialogue box and give you LOTS of options!
Step #2: Select “Multiple” 🔢
THIS is the key step in the process.
Instead of only printing one page of your document on one sheet, you will print multiple pages on the same sheet.
Your print settings might look like this ⬇️
Step #3: Select Your Pages 📄
Chances are, you probably don’t want to put every single page on this student handout.
Select the specific pages you want to print out for your students by typing the page numbers in the dialogue box.
Step #4: Choose How Many Pages per Sheet 🎉
Decide how many pages you want to print on each page.
Your answer will largely depend on how large you want your mini cheatsheets to be.
If you want something to be larger, choose to only print 2 pages to a sheet.
If you can get away with a smaller size, 4 to a page is a great place to be!
For reference, this is what printing 4 to a page looks like compared to a “normal” printing of the multiplication chart.
Step #5: Click Print 👏
You did it!
Print those student handouts.
If you are creating a resource you think your students will use over and over again, think about how to help protect the handout.
You could cut out the resources, laminate them, and put them on a binder ring so students can flip through them easily.
Or, you could put the handouts in page protectors to give them a little longer life and help your students find them without a hassle!
Being able to print smaller versions of resources is something you will use over and over again.
Especially math resources. Having something at your students’ fingertips to quickly check or work on their math facts is a game changer.
