Maximize Student Learning with These 3 Essential Printable Classroom Decor Items

Printable classroom decor is amazing.

It easily allows you to transform your classroom where everything matches and blends.

But, that isn’t the only purpose.

Classroom decor has the potential to maximize the learning happening in your classroom.

How? Because almost ALL of my items in the classroom decor bundles are resources helping your students learn the skills & concepts they need to master.

Now, if you aren’t sure you’re fully on board with updating every part of your classroom with printable decor, don’t worry!

Here are my top three suggestions of items from my decor bundles that will maximize your students’ learning without taking up all of your classroom space.

This image shows a close up of three posters on an alphabet line. You can see the letters "A", "B" and "C" with words & pictures underneath each letter. The letter is in a colorful circle with a black and white polka dot background. The words underneath the image read "Maximize Student Learning with these 3 essential printable classroom decor items".

Alphabet Line

One of the greatest skills your students need to master in the classroom is the alphabet.

So, my top suggestion is a resource they can reference whenever they need a reminder on what sound the letter makes or how to write the letter itself.

Calm Colors Alphabet (Left) & Boho Neutral Alphabet (Right)

There are MANY different styles of alphabet lines you can choose from.

Choose the color theme that you like the most AND the style that will work best for your students. 🙂

This image shows an alphabet line. Each poster has a colorful circle with the upper and lower case letters displayed within the circle with tracing lines displayed. The circles are colored with calm color themes. There is a white background with small black plus signs all over the background.

This lined primary alphabet being used in Miss M’s classroom is PERFECT for little learners who are still working on letter formation.

Or, go with the cursive style of alphabet line like Monica for her upper elementary classroom.

On the bottom of the poster is the ASL sign for each letter. The circles are colored with calm color themes. There is a white background with small black plus signs all over the background.

Maybe you want to use your alphabet posters to introduce your students not only to cursive but also to American Sign Language.

There is also a word that goes with each letter and a picture of that word towards the bottom of the poster. The circles are colored with bright color themes. Hand Signal Posters

My next essential printable classroom decor item is hand signal posters.

These posters are SUCH a game changer when it comes to saving your time (and sanity) as a teacher.

This image shows a printable classroom decor sample of hand signal posters. The posters are circular shaped & show a hand with a different sign (1 finger held up, 3 fingers held up, etc.) with an image for what that request means (toilet, pencil, tissue, etc.) along with the written word as well. Each poster has a faint tropical-themed icon in the background.

Instead of students raising their hand to ask you to go to the bathroom, grab a drink, or find a tissue, they can hold up a certain number of fingers!

Each poster has a solid calm color background.

This allows you to seamlessly continue teaching or meeting with your small group of students without being interrupted.

I LOVE how Tara placed her hand signal posters right by the whiteboard. This means her students can reference them SO easily while she teaches!

Math Posters

My third tip is any and all math posters that will help your students.

Math is a subject that is filled with LOTS of skills and concepts.

Adding some printable classroom decor resources that will help your students master their multiplication facts or place values makes a HUGE impact on their learning.

This image shows a bulletin board filled with math resources. Along the top are skip counting numbers, then there are ten frame posters for the numbers 0 - 29, and then by tens until the number 100. There are also some place value charts and blank ten frames to help you count from 10 until 200.

This math wall created by Miss Mercer is just perfect.

It is a one-stop shop for her little learners to practice their skip counting, identify what time it is, and review their numbers.

This wall of classroom decor not only looks cute but holds SO much information, it truly helps maximize learning.

Even JUST adding skip counting numbers to your classroom is a tremendous way to help your students master math skills.

Or, create an entire display connected to relevant math skills, vocabulary, and concepts your students are working to master.

You will see your students using these displays ALL the time in your classroom.

Bonus: Voice Level Posters

I know I said I would give you only three essentials, but this one is too good to ignore as a fun bonus!

Voice level posters are similar to hand signal posters in helping you maximize learning by minimizing distractions.

This image shows hand signal and voice level posters from the calm colors classroom decor collection. The voice levels read "Outside voice - 4", "Speaker voice - 3", "Low Flow - 2", "Whisper voice - 1", and "Silence is Golden - 0". Each poster has a clipart image to represent the voice level.

These posters are great to reference throughout your teaching day to remind students what the voice level expectation is.

You can add fun lights to make things more interesting, or simply hang the posters and talk about them all the time!

If you are looking for a way to add some peaceful quiet times back into your school day, definitely check these out!

And don’t worry, if you love the idea of these posters, but these aren’t the colors for your classroom, check out all of the styles available here.

So, if you are new to printable classroom decor and just want to add some basics rather than an entire bundle, these are my top choices that will maximize learning and add some cute decor in your classroom!
