Family Engagement Made Simple: Classroom Newsletter Templates To Keep Parents in the Loop

  • Classroom Management, Teacher Tips
This image shows two classroom newsletter templates that hold spaces to share classroom news, upcoming events, reminders, and what the class is learning. The text underneath the image reads "Family engagement made simple: Classroom newsletter templates to keep parents in the loop."

Keeping up with families can feel like a never-ending race.

There is always one more email to respond to, one more phone call to make, or one more note to send home.

One way to save yourself some time AND keep all of your families in the loop is to use classroom newsletters!

Ways to Use the Classroom Newsletter Templates

I know, your question might be “Sounds great, but what will I even put in this newsletter?”

This image shows two classroom newsletter templates that hold spaces to share classroom news, upcoming events, reminders, and what the class is learning.

These are my Modern Calm Color classroom newsletter templates.

Think of them as a way to give your families a snapshot of the little things you are doing as a classroom throughout the week.

Some weekly examples might be:

⭐ Spelling lists

⭐ Sight Word Lists

⭐ Learning objectives or topics you will be covering

⭐ Questions to ask your kids at home about what you’ve been learning

⭐ A weekly quote for the students

Newsletters are also a great place to put all of your reminders for parents:

✨ Upcoming events

✨ Field trips

✨ Other reminders

Really, the sky is the limit when it comes to what to fill your newsletter with.

My bet is you will run out of space much faster than you think! 😉

How to Use the Editable Templates

Alright, now that you have some ideas flowing on WHAT to put into your newsletter, let’s talk about how to do that 🙂

For my editable templates, the first step is making sure you have PowerPoint on your computer.

This image shows two classroom newsletter templates that hold spaces to share classroom news, upcoming events, reminders, and what the class is learning. There is a label at the top of the page that reads "headings are editable" and another at the bottom of the page that reads "fonts are embedded for you!"

You will need PowerPoint because that is the format used to create the editable templates.

If you don’t have PowerPoint:

➡️ Sign up for a free 30-day trial at this website!

➡️ You could try doing it on Google Slides, but I wouldn’t suggest it because your fonts will not be the same.

Once you have PowerPoint, your next step is to open the editable classroom newsletter template.

Then, simply type in the text boxes provided!

These are my Boho Dreams classroom newsletter templates.

You can change the headings accordingly, change the font if you want to use something different, and make it your own!

Next, send the newsletter to your families via email or print it out and send it home with your students!
