Step into Cayla Weber’s 3rd grade classroom and see what ideas you can bring to your own classroom this year!

Big Picture 🖼️

Cayla has brought the Modern Calm Colors decor into every part of her classroom.

This image shows a portion of a teacher's area in a classroom. You can see a small group table and several rolling carts to help with organization. There are also skip counting numbers.

Even her teacher corner fits the theme of the classroom!

That teal 3-tier cart is the PERFECT add-on to tie into this theme!

Moving your teacher desk against the wall is a great way to free up some extra space if your classroom is a little smaller.

You can see the skip counting posters along the top of this wall. That’s a great place to put them so they are always accessible for students.

This image shows a part of a classroom. You can see a whiteboard, a small table, two teal chairs, and a short bookcase. There are cursive alphabet posters across the top of the whiteboards.

Cayla has used SO many different resources included in this bundle on this side of her classroom.

Again, the teal chairs and baskets are such a fun way to bring some additional color into your space!

Cayla chose a cursive alphabet poster for her 3rd grade students.

I love seeing teachers in middle and upper elementary rooms still using alphabet posters!

The idea of using an extra whiteboard to house your Word Wall is genius! 🤯

Add some twinkle lights across the top, and you have an amazing place to hold resources for your students. ❤️

This image shows ideas for 3rd grade classroom setup. There is a small blue couch on the floor next to the bookcases. A blue and white rug sits at the front of the classroom.

Cayla added a rug at the front of her classroom. This (plus the tiny blue couch off to the side) adds an extra level of coziness and makes the classroom feel even more like home. 🥰

If you love the idea of adding a rug, but haven’t pulled the trigger because they are pricey, I have three great places to look to find rugs that won’t break your bank!

This image shows a teacher sitting on top of a white table in front of a wall in her classroom. You can see glimpses of calm colors classroom decor on her walls behind her.

Here’s what Cayla has to say about the theme she chose:

“The Modern Calm Colors decor bundle allowed me to create a welcoming environment for my students to be their best third-grade selves!”

Let’s dig into how she has used this bundle to help with her 3rd grade classroom setup.

An Overview of Her Classroom 😍

Welcome to Cayla’s cute, cozy classroom!

This image shows a 3rd grade classroom setup. The desks are arranged in pods of 5. There is a smart board at the front and white boards off to the side.

She describes her classroom as “truly my happy place!” I’m so excited to share bits & pieces of it with you! 🤩

Seeing how teachers have set up their classrooms is always a great way to spark your inspiration for your own!

As you can see, she chose a classroom decor theme so the different parts of her room mesh perfectly together.

Classroom Library

A cozy classroom library is always such a fun place to dream up for your classroom. 🥰

Thinking about how to organize your books doesn’t always feel the same 🫠

This image shows a classroom library bookcase. The books are arranged in white baskets with colorful labels. The labels show different genres or book series names.

Cayla did a fun mix of separating her books by author, genre, and specific series.

This image shows another classroom library bookcase. The books are arranged in white baskets with colorful labels. The labels show different genres or book series names. There are several picture books displayed on the whiteboard above the bookshelf.

Then, she used the editable labels to create tags for her buckets.

Cayla has labels in SO many places in her classroom.

“There is a label for everything, which makes it so easy for my students to know exactly where to find and return any books, manipulatives, and supplies. Everything being labeled also makes my Type A teacher heart so happy! 🥰”  -Cayla

Cayla set up her 3rd grade classroom to be gorgeous AND organized.

Spots for Students

As you set up your classroom, don’t forget about creating some special spaces for your students.

This image shows a closeup of a writing corner. There is a small white table pushed against the wall. There is a banner hanging over the table that says "Writing". On the table are some organizational caddies with items students might need when they are working on their writing.

This writing corner is a SUPER fun spot in Cayla’s classroom. The teal chairs are such a fun addition to add more color to her classroom.

She used a “Writing” banner from the Modern Calm Colors bundle to dedicate this space to that subject. This is such a brilliant way to make some harder subjects fun and special to your kids!

This image shows a classroom jobs display on the side of a bulletin board.

Cayla also has a Classroom Jobs display in her classroom.

This way students can go somewhere when they have forgotten their job.

This image shows the section of a classroom by the sink and counter. There are inspirational posters in frames hanging on the wall. On top of the counter are clear buckets with labels for different subjects.

One of my other favorite parts of Cayla’s classroom is this little inspirational wall display in the back corner of her classroom.

Framing posters is a way to elevate them and make them stand out even more on your walls.

Add some twinkle lights and you’ve created another cozy corner in your room. 😍

You can also see some additional labels on those trays underneath. Having a system like this is so helpful to keeping papers students are turning in or handouts you have for students organized.

Schedules & Calendars

No 3rd grade classroom setup is complete without a daily schedule and calendar of some sort!

This image shows a closeup of a flip calendar and schedule cards on a whiteboard.

Cayla has both of hers posted on the front of her whiteboard.

This allows them to be front and center for her students so they can reference them throughout the day.

She chose to use a flip calendar and use the editable schedule cards for her room.

This image shows a flip calendar at the top of a whiteboard.

“I can make changes to my board with just a flip or the switch of a magnetic card! So easy!” -Cayla

Cayla hung her flip calendar up with a simple magnetic rod so all she has to do each morning is make sure the correct cards are up.

This image shows daily schedule cards set up on the side of a whiteboard. Each card has a subject listed with a time off to the left-hand side.

“My students refer to the schedule daily and are quick to remind me if I forgot to adjust something! 😉” – Cayla

Kids thrive on routine and structure.

And many kids love knowing exactly what is happening each day and when it happens.

Adding a magnetic schedule to your whiteboard is an easy way to provide that structure without spending lots of time each morning getting it ready.

Being able to peek into other teacher’s classrooms is always a fun way to see new ideas and spark ideas to bring into your own classroom.

No matter how your 3rd grade classroom setup turns out, you will create a calm, welcoming space for your students.

And they will be PUMPED to meet you!
