A 1st Grade Classroom Setup Tour

Allow me to introduce Audrey Collins! (You can find her on Instagram @miss.collins.class or on TikTok @audreyycollins)

This image shows a teacher, Audrey Collins, standing in front of her reading nook corner.

This is a snapshot of her 1st grade classroom!

This image shows a 1st grade classroom setup. There are alphabet posters across the top of the wall, a white board, and number frames on another bulletin board.

She used the Modern Calm Colors decor bundle in EVERY corner of her classroom to create a seamless calm, welcoming atmosphere.

I’ll take you on a tour of her classroom & show you different 1st grade classroom setup ideas to inspire your own!

Carpet Area

Audrey has created a cozy, inspiring carpet / rug area at the front of her classroom!

This image shows a close-up of a morning meeting corner of a classroom. There is a wicker chair with a picture book, buckets on the bottom half of a wall, and objectives on another bulletin board.

I love how functional this space is!

Here are Audrey’s thoughts on the front of her classroom:

“It’s one of the first things you see when you enter my room, and I love how harmonious the colors are across the Alphabet display, the Days in School chart, the Calendar, and the Daily Schedule.”

This image shows a bulletin board in a 1st grade classroom with a calendar chart, weather cards, and day of the week cards.

These are parts of the classroom that most 1st grade teachers put closely together because you use them with your students all the time. (And generally at the same time of day.)

Using a decor bundle ensures a seamless display.

I LOVE her bucket filler display at the bottom! This is a fun way to use some extra space in the classroom, keep them in arms reach for her little learners, and celebrate the kind actions of students. ❤️

On the opposite wall, Audrey has created another wall dedicated to learning objectives, hand signals, and a classroom jobs display!

Audrey created the student names for her Classroom Jobs area using the editable Modern Calm Colors editable calendar pieces!

It is always so fun to see how teachers adapt the bundle to their specific needs!

A Cozy Reading Nook

Audrey has created an AMAZING reading nook in her classroom!

This image shows a closeup of a 1st grade classroom library setup. There is a white canopy hanging from the ceiling and a sign on the wall that reads "Read Everyday".

“My reading nook is another sweet space in my room. It’s one of my favorite corners because it feels so cozy. I used the Modern Decor bundle for all of my book bin labels. It was so easy to label everything according to how I structure my library since everything is so editable! I love seeing my students read in this space.”

Doesn’t it look like the perfect spot to curl up with a book?

Amazing Things Happen Here Wall

Audrey got creative when putting together a space in her classroom to allow her students to shine!

This image shows a bulletin board with the heading "Amazing Things Happen Here." Each student space has a file folder to show off student work.
On the bottom of the bulletin board is a two-shelf bookcase filled with library books.

Audrey wanted to make sure she dedicated space for student work in her classroom.

Even though I didn’t have the Wow Work display created yet for the bundle, she didn’t let that stop her!

“The student work wall is another cherished part of my room. I used the same colors as the Modern Decor bundle to create a title that blends with the rest of the room. I will display student’s work on this bulletin board, and I can’t wait to see their work fill up this space!”

And if you look closely, you can spot those editable labels keeping Audrey’s library books organized. 😉

Audrey has found SO many ways to make this bundle perfect 1st grade classroom decor. ❤️

Birthday Display and Affirmation Station

It doesn’t take many glances around the classroom to notice that Audrey wants to celebrate and inspire her students.

All of the 1st grade classroom setup is intentional with that driving motivation. 🥰

This image shows a board decorated with a birthday display and fun, colorful "Happy Birthday" banner. There is also a mirror with affirmations posted along the side.

This wall is used for both a Birthday display and an Affirmation Station.

The character the curved top of the mirror brings to this wall is 😍.

“I wanted this wall to radiate positivity, and it does just that! Students LOVE seeing their name under their birthday month, and when they look in the mirror, they are reminded of their value.”

Other 1st Grade Classroom Setup Ideas

Even little things in Audrey’s classroom fit into her theme to create a cozy feel everywhere you look.

This image shows a closeup of sharp and dull pencil buckets in a 1st grade classroom. There is also a wooden mason jar design with colorful, wooden stars inside.

“My sharp and dull pencil buckets are such a small detail, but matching them with the classroom colors helps create a space that feels cohesive, friendly, and inviting!”

I LOVE seeing the beautiful reward jars created by the store “Good Mood”. They are SO fun and aesthetically pleasing 😍.

This image shows a teacher area in a classroom. There are three-drawer bins with labels showing different days of the week and subject areas.

Don’t forget about your own corner of space in your classroom!

Finding creative ways to keep papers and little trinkets organized will save your sanity and give you a special place in your own room.

Audrey’s room is FILLED with 1st grade classroom setup ideas and practical ways to take the Modern Calm Colors decor bundle and really make it your own.
